Let’s be honest—ranking up in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) solo queue can be frustrating. It feels like pure suffering sometimes, right? Between the trolls, bad teammates, and unlucky matchmaking, it’s easy to get discouraged. But here’s the truth: it’s not as bad as you think.
Yes, even in ranked matches, there are shortcuts and strategies that can help you win more consistently. Instead of losing your mind over defeat after defeat, you can take control, start winning, and most importantly—enjoy the game.
So, if you’re tired of bad teammates and want to start winning more, like this post and consider subscribing to the channel (if you’re reading this on my site or coming from YouTube). Now, let’s break down the essential rules for dominating in solo or duo rank.
This one’s simple, but critical: Don’t play heroes or roles you’re unfamiliar with in ranked.
Start by analyzing your own performance. Here's how:
Open your Profile.
Go to the Battlefield section.
Check your hero stats and performance metrics.
A lot of players focus too much on win rate, but here’s the truth—win rate isn’t always a reflection of your actual skill. In solo queue, a 60% win rate is already very solid. Full squads can push this closer to 90%.
What really matters? Your KDA (Kills + Assists ÷ Deaths). It’s like your in-game GPA.
Below 2.5: Needs improvement.
2.5 – 3.5: Average performance.
3.5 – 4.5: Strong performance.
Above 5: You’re a beast.
Also, watch your average deaths per match. The fewer you die, the better your decision-making usually is.
To go even deeper:
Go to Favorites in the Battlefield tab.
Tap the icon in the top-right corner.
Look at each hero’s grade (not win rate).
8+: Keep this hero in your ranked pool.
6.5 – 8: Decent backup picks.
Below 6: Avoid picking in ranked.
Build a small hero pool of your strongest picks for each role or lane. That way, you’re always ready to counter-pick or fill when needed.
Farming is king. Whether you're a gold laner, XP laner, or jungler, getting gold and XP fast gives you a major edge.
Tips:
Last hit minions every time.
Stay in lane as long as possible early game.
If you need to recall, time it so you don't miss full waves.
Keep an eye on the enemy’s farm too. If you’re ahead, you’ll usually win trades and force them to recall. If you’re behind, play safe and avoid fighting 1v1.
Minimap awareness is more than glancing every few seconds. Learn to predict enemy movements and understand your team's rotations.
Why?
Avoid ambushes by tracking missing enemies.
Spot opportunities to gank, rotate, or secure objectives.

Kills are fun—but objectives win games.
Here's your priority list:
Jungle buffs
Turtles & Lords
Towers
The base altar
We've all had that game where an enemy Miya or Argus backdoors the base while your team is busy chasing kills. Don’t fall for it. Always protect your base and secure objectives before chasing team fights.
If you're looking for brawls, play Brawl Mode—ranked is for smart plays.
Stop using the same item build every game. It doesn't work in higher ranks. Your build should counter the enemy team, not just boost your own stats.
For example:
Facing heavy healers? Buy anti-heal items (physical, tank, or magic types).
Constantly ganked? Get defensive items early (like Dreadnought Armor or Antique Cuirass).
Enemy has high HP tanks? Use penetration items to cut them down.
Adapting your build can turn a losing matchup into a winning one.
In team fights, your main goal is to eliminate the enemy’s biggest threats—usually their mage, marksman, or assassin.
If you're a tank:
Zone enemy damage dealers away from your carries.
Force out enemy abilities and create space for your team.
If you're a jungler:
Use mobility to flank or ambush squishier targets.
A surprise gank on a marksman can swing a whole fight in your favor.
Smart targeting wins games faster than chasing random kills.
Solo queue can feel like a grind, but with the right approach, you can carry games and climb faster than you think. Stick to your strongest heroes, master farming and map awareness, and always play for objectives.
