Corrode's Covert Combos: Dominating the Map

Corro is a hotbed for unexpected strategies, and we've got a few that will leave your opponents scratching their heads.

Over-Smoke Outlook on Main

Imagine this: The enemy team is smoking Main on Corro. Instead of waiting it out, you can jump on a specific box and gain an angle over the smoke directly into Heaven! This audacious move is almost guaranteed to catch enemies off guard, giving you a crucial early pick or intel.

Vandal Wallbangs from Heaven

Think you need an Odin to wallbang on Corro? Think again! While common wisdom suggests heavy weapons for wall penetration, you can actually wallbang the top part of the Hood with a Vandal from Heaven. Here's how:

  1. Plant the spike all the way in the right corner of Hood.

  2. Make your way into Heaven. If you have control of Heaven, this opens up incredible post-plant possibilities, allowing for surprising wallbang kills on defusing enemies.

The Mid-Crouch Flaw: A Sneaky Bypass

There's a significant flaw in Corro's Mid area that allows for incredibly sneaky plays. If defenders stand too far back in Mid, a wall blocks their vision on the left side. This creates a window of opportunity for attackers: by crouching, you can sneak past enemies in Mid without being spotted! While this mechanic might seem unfair, you can counter it as a defender by walking a little further forward and holding Mid from a more advanced position, nullifying this sneaky crouch trick.

Cipher's Secret Cam on B-Site

Gain unparalleled intel on B-Site with this hidden Cipher Cam spot.

  1. Aim precisely at the corner of the wall in front of the B window.

  2. Jump and place your Cipher Cam. Your camera will be behind the window, making it incredibly difficult for enemies to spot while providing clear vision of B-Site. Unfortunately, you can't attack enemies from this position, but the intel is invaluable.

Sage Wall Through the B Window

Not only can Cipher get a sneaky view, but Sage can also capitalize on the B window. Place your Sage wall on the box near the B window, and you can look through it. The brilliance of this spot is that enemies standing in Hood won't be able to see your wall, allowing for unexpected wallbang kills. Be aware, however, that your wall can be spotted if enemies push further into the site.

Abilities Through the "Non-Existent" Wall

Prepare for a truly bizarre Corro quirk: certain abilities can pass straight through a specific wall on the map as if it weren't there! While this is clearly a bug and not recommended for competitive play, it's a fascinating anomaly. For instance, standing against this wall and aiming at the left side of the balcony might cause your Molotov to "accidentally" travel through and hit an enemy on the other side. A "happy little accident," as one might say!

General Mechanics & Mind-Bending Discoveries

Beyond map-specific tricks, Valorant holds several intriguing mechanics that can impact your gameplay.

The Curious Case of Crouching Fall Damage

Did you know that crouching while falling actually increases the fall damage you take? While the difference is minor (e.g., 16 damage uncrouched vs. 17 damage crouched from Haven's Window), it's a subtle mechanic that could, in rare circumstances, make a difference in a clutch situation.

Haven Window Walk-On: Consistent Ledge Access

Remember the elusive Haven Window walk-on trick? A viewer found a consistent method! Instead of jumping, you can simply walk onto the ledge of Haven's Window, allowing for immediate accuracy and fast shots. Here's how to do it consistently:

  1. Stand against the corner of the wall.

  2. Aim at the edge of the window.

  3. Simply walk forward – no jump required! Once you get the angle right, this becomes an "easy peasy" maneuver. While it blurs the line between pixel spots and potential bug abuse, its subtle nature makes it less game-breaking.

Abyss's Invisible Pixel Spot: A Glitchy Gun Save

On Abyss, there's a fascinating and undoubtedly buggy pixel spot that allows you to survive an out-of-bounds fall. Jump off the map, then aim between the grass and a specific rock, and use Jett's float ability. You'll land on an invisible pixel spot, allowing you to save your guns. While not ideal for engaging enemies due to inaccuracy, your ultimate will remain accurate, making for a unique (if glitchy) gun-saving strategy.

Spike Plant & Sage Wall Break: Tactical Surprises

Most players know that planting the spike can instantly destroy a Sage wall, creating a surprising entry or a quick kill opportunity. What's less known is that Chamber's teleport can also break a Sage wall. While there's a slight delay before you can shoot, combining this with teammates behind you can lead to unexpected pushes and catches.

Wallbang Damage: Thickness Matters!

The amount of damage you deal when wallbanging isn't just about the material; the thickness of the wall also plays a crucial role! Shooting through a thinner part of a wall will inflict more damage than shooting through a thicker section of the same material. For example, an Operator shot through a thin wall edge might do 237 damage, while a shot through a thicker part of the same wall might only do 198 damage. This subtle detail means understanding map geometry can significantly improve your wallbang effectiveness.

Unconventional Tactics & "Silly" Strategies

Sometimes, the most unexpected plays are the most memorable. Here are a few "silly" tricks that might just work... or just make you laugh.

The Gun Juggling Delivery Service

Ever seen a player juggling two guns across the map? This "gun delivery" mechanic allows you to walk with two guns at once, essentially transporting a weapon to a teammate. While it looks ridiculous, leaves you vulnerable, and makes a lot of noise, it was notably used by one player to get a Vandal to a teammate who only had a pistol. Highly impractical, but undeniably cool.

The Outlaw-Judge Combo: Tilting Your Foes

What's the easiest way to deal damage from long range? A Judge, despite its low damage at a distance. Here's a "silly" combo: have a teammate hit an enemy with an Outlaw body shot (140 damage), then follow up with your long-range Judge shots (around 14 damage per hit). That 14 damage is enough to finish off the enemy. While not a recommended strategy, it's a unique way to combine weapon strengths and certainly guaranteed to tilt the enemies!

Breach Ult Boost: Friend or Foe?

You know Breach's ultimate can boost you onto boxes. But did you know you can use an enemy Breach ultimate to your advantage? If an enemy Breach ults you, you can use the ultimate's force to jump onto a nearby box, gaining height. While you'll be stunned and vulnerable, the element of surprise might just lead to an unexpected kill, as demonstrated by Funky Lama. A more practical use of Breach's ultimate, however, is to use its push to diffuse a spike even through a Sage wall!

Agent-Specific Synergies & Post-Plant Power Plays

Coordinated plays and smart agent abilities can turn the tide of a round.

Yoru + Astra: The Stun-Synced Entry

This underrated combo utilizes Yoru's ultimate with Astra's stun for devastating results. When your Yoru teammate pops his ultimate and pushes, follow him in Astra form. As soon as Yoru spots an enemy, use your stun on them. The enemy will be stunned, but Yoru (being in his untargetable ultimate form) won't be affected, allowing for an easy kill. This synergy can lead to rapid site takes and surprising eliminations.

Viper's Heaven Post-Plant on Corro

Viper excels at post-plant scenarios, and Corro provides a powerful setup.

  1. Plant the spike behind the Hood.

  2. Make your way to Heaven.

  3. Place your Viper ultimate on the corner of Heaven. Your ultimate will spread far and wide, creating numerous hiding spots within the smoke. Combine this with your Molotov, and you can play from either Heaven or down on site, making it incredibly difficult for enemies to find you and secure the defuse.

Sage's Annoying A Site Post-Plant on Corro

Another strong post-plant on Corro comes from Sage on A-Site.

  1. Place your wall at the entrance to create a small gap for planting.

  2. Plant the spike while aiming towards Main. From the enemy's perspective, finding the spike becomes a challenge. And once they do, you'll have multiple angles to hold from, making the retake an extremely annoying and difficult task for the opposing team.

This episode has uncovered a trove of unique Valorant mechanics and tricks, from the genuinely strategic to the delightfully silly. Remember to practice these in custom games before trying them in competitive matches.
